“The accommodations were as expected. We knew it was an older resort but it served its purpose well. We had 5 suites, one of which was the ambassador suite which we used as a family gathering place. It was perfect. We were disappointed the poolside bar wasn’t operational at North Pool but we brought our own drinks poolside and it was great. The lazy river, water slide, and pool were great for the younger and older kids in our group. Although the mini golf course wasn’t fancy it was enough for us. We had 14 in our group and there was something for everyone. The basketball courts were great for my nephew, although we wish the hours were longer. There is also a nearby playground-park which we walked to for my young niece to get some energy out. Some adults in our group used the fitness area and we were able to get a good workout in.
The staff was accommodating to some of our special needs and or requests. The location was perfect. It is a short drive from airport, Tempe, and Old Scottsdale. Take out and a drug store are walking distance if needed.

“I don’t know why people expect a 6 star experience when staying at an older hotel… after reading all of the reviews I was a bit disappointed before arriving but you’d need to experience it for yourself firsthand. Honestly, our experience was great. I wasn’t expecting anything above and beyond with an older hotel. The hotel was clean, our room was clean, outdated? Yea but it wasn’t bad. Our bathroom door would get stuck and that’s the only negative thing about the room. The river ranch was fun, wasn’t too crowded, I can say I would suggest they come up with a different check in process. Standing in 100+ degree weather in a long line isn’t the best experience, maybe hand out the wristbands at the front desk? The pools had some broken tiles but overall the pools probably just need to be updated. The water wasn’t “murky green” like some of the reviews say…. The hole in the wall restaurant was really good and Helen provided amazing service! She deserves to be recognized :) over all, we had a great time and my kids had a blast hanging in the pool all day.”
